Why is ACM (Acrylic Copolymer) impact modifier superior to CPE in pipe production?
May 14, 2026

ACM comprehensively surpasses CPE in PVC pipe production, particularly addressing CPE's core pain points such as low-temperature brittleness, insufficient rigidity, inefficient processing, poor weather resistance, and inferior appearance. It is a high-performance, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and weather-resistant preferred impact modifier, especially suitable for high-end water supply pipes, drainage pipes, municipal buried pipes, and outdoor pipes.

Compared to traditional CPE (chlorinated polyethylene), ACM impact modifier in PVC pipe production offers the following advantages in:

Superior low-temperature impact resistance;

While significantly improving impact toughness, ACM minimizes the decrease in tensile/flexural strength and Vicat softening point, avoiding the CPE problem of "toughening inevitably leading to reduced rigidity." This results in pipes with better pressure resistance, deformation resistance, and dimensional stability.

Faster plasticization, higher melt strength, and better thermal stability.

Superior weather resistance and appearance quality.

Only 6-10 parts of ACM achieve the impact resistance of 10-15 parts of CPE, reducing usage by 30%-40% and resulting in lower overall costs.

ACM exhibits excellent compatibility with PVC, stabilizers, lubricants, and fillers, requiring no additional formulation adjustments and directly replacing CPE, simplifying production management.
